Canada imposes a tariff of up to 182% on Chinese steel products

According to Canada’s “Global Network” report, Canada has recently decided to impose an import tariff of up to 182% on China’s steel products.
According to reports, the Canadian Border Service Agency made a preliminary ruling that Chinese steel products used for oil and natural gas drilling and transportation in Canada have subsidies from the Chinese government. China has dumped steel products at a very low price in Canada. Therefore, Canada is prepared to Steel products from China impose a tariff of 182%. This decision was widely welcomed by Canadian steel companies, but it has raised concerns about whether China-Canada relations will be further damaged.
According to reports, the Chinese Embassy in Canada did not respond to this decision of the Canadian government. However, earlier similar US practices were met with strong opposition from Beijing.
On October 27, the U.S. Department of Commerce imposed punitive tariffs ranging from 7.53% to 12.06% on China's steel stranded products and 7.44% of punitive tariffs on China's steel grid plate products. There are more than 90 iron and steel enterprises involved in the case, including major state-owned large-scale steel companies such as Tianjin Pipe, Baosteel, and Angang. According to statistics from China Steel Association, in the first eight months of 2009, China's steel exports to the United States decreased by 72.50% year-on-year, and its exports to the EU dropped by 85.08%.
In addition to the United States, the EU and Argentina also contain Chinese steel products. On October 6, the European Union announced that “China’s export of seamless steel tubes to Europe poses a threat to the EU industry” and ruled to impose a final anti-dumping tariff of 17.7%-39.2%.
