All metal type hexagon nuts and metal insert/nylon insert type hexagon lock nuts
Are the main two categories of prevailing torque lock nuts. The lock element by metal/nylon inserted or by elliptically deformation on the threads of nuts to get a fricton constant. All metal prevailing torque type lock nuts achieve their prevailing torque by distorting the threads of the nut, then bites into the mating part when tightened. The all-metal locking mechanism causes eventual damage to the protective coating of the threads on both bolt and nut. This increases the incidence of corrosion as well as galling. Replacing the nut will not restore the damage caused to the bolt threads. Thus the all-metal lock nuts generally are one-time use. Material of C1035 and C1045 carbon steel are generally used for all metal type hexagon nuts.
All metal type (non metallic insert) and metal insert type hexagon lock nuts standard supplies from Transhow manufacturers: DIN980v, DIN6924/ISO7040, DIN6925/ISO7042, DIN 6926/ISO7043, JIS B1199, ISO 7042, ISO 7719, ISO 7720, ISO10513, IFI 100/107 Grade C; Top lock Flange Nut IFI 100/107 Grade G
Prevailing torque type all-metal hexagon Flange Nuts DIN6927, JIS B1199-4-2001, EN1667, ISO 12126
There are also surface bearing lock nuts, which is a free spinning nut that requires tightening against a bearing surface in order for the locking mechanism to function. The surface bearing type lock nuts including serrated flange nuts and Keps Lock Nuts (K-Lock Nuts). For more standards or non-standards, please contact us.
Surface treatment usually to be zinc plated, chromate or phosphate coated and lubricated while cadmium plated or wax coated applicable.
