Toyota recalls more than 6.67 million cars worldwide

Toyota said in an e-mail that the company’s five recent recalls involved the brand’s 27 models as well as Pontiac Vibe and Subaru Trezia. As some models repeatedly appear in multiple recalls, the total number of vehicles that need repair is 6.39 million.

At present, Toyota has not received any reports of injuries or deaths caused by any problems. It said that recalls involved several issues, including seat rails, engine starters and other components.

This action is Toyota's second major recall this year. In February of this year, Toyota recalled 1.9 million Prius hybrids and upgraded its software system.

In a statement, Toyota shares in the Tokyo stock market fell 4.9%, and each stock fell to 5348 yen. However, the recall did not affect Toyota's earnings. The company expects its profit for the fiscal year ending March 31 will soar to a record 1.9 trillion yen ($18.6 billion). The company plans to sell 10.32 million cars in 2014 and aims to continue to lead GM as well as the German public.
