Analysis of the Reasons Why Refrigeration Compressor Is Not Easy to Start

What is the reason why the refrigeration compressor can't start or stop quickly after starting?

1) First check the main circuit. Whether the power supply has power, whether the voltage is normal, whether the fuse is blown due to the starting overload fuse, whether the air switch trips, whether the switch contact is good, and whether the power supply is out of phase. When starting, observe the voltmeter and ammeter. When the small-scale refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment does not have an ammeter or a meter, the multi-meter or tester can be used to check the power supply. When the power supply voltage is too low, the compressor will not start.

2) Check the differential pressure relay phase high and low voltage relay. When the compressor oil pressure is abnormal (beyond a certain value or below a certain value), the compressor can be stopped. At the same time, when the compressor discharge pressure (high pressure) and the suction pressure (low pressure) are abnormal, the compressor will not start or the compressor will stop running soon after starting.

3) Check if the amount of chilled water, cooling water, and water temperature are normal. If the water volume is small and the water temperature is high, the condensation pressure will rise sharply and the evaporation temperature will drop rapidly. Due to the action of the unit protection facilities, it will often stop quickly.

4) The working fluid in the temperature sensor of the temperature relay leaks or is adjusted incorrectly.

5) For the piston refrigeration compressor, whether the main shaft of the connecting rod and the curved sleeve are caught. These may be caused by excessive exhaust gas temperature during the previous operation, or may be coking of the lubricating oil, causing the cylinder to bond with the piston, so that the compressor cannot be started.

6) Check if the relevant solenoid valve and regulating valve are malfunctioning and whether they are opened or closed as required.

These reasons often cause the refrigeration compressor to start, or start for a few minutes, or stop quickly after ten minutes. Care must be taken to find the cause, and it is not possible to force it to start before the cause is identified, so as not to damage the equipment.
