Henan Guangshan re-launches campus security incident: 4 pupils died of drowning

Guangshan County is located in the southeast of Henan Province. On January 7, the teacher of Tianxiang Elementary School in Nanxiangdian Township of the county learned that several students did not attend class on the same day at 14:10 pm on the same day. This is the second incident related to campus security that occurred in Guangshan County in less than one month. Although the official said that the drowning incident occurred outside the campus "2 km in a river ditch." However, legal professionals said that the school has the obligation and responsibility to provide safety education to students.

On December 14, 2012, 23 students from the Chenping Village Primary School in Wenshu Township, Guangshan County, were chopped by a man with a kitchen knife and rushed into the campus. Guangshan County official stated that “the public security authorities initially identified the criminal suspect Mou Yongjun as a result of the 'end of the world’ rumor in holding the knife and hurting the innocent people and students”.

Afterwards, the local authorities took responsibility for many people, including Wang Shengying, president of the Wenshu Central School. Officials also stated that they will "learn lessons from the past, investigate the hidden dangers of campus security, and vigorously rectify various types of security risks existing around the campus."
