Xinjiang's petrochemical equipment manufacturing industry has taken full advantage of the opportunities for growth, and now it has established a comprehensive industrial system covering five key areas: oil drilling and mining tools, refining and chemical equipment, specialized oilfield and energy-saving transmission and transformation equipment, valves, testing devices, and various accessories. The region currently produces nearly 100 different products, showcasing its expanding production capabilities.
As of now, there are over 40 enterprises engaged in the manufacturing of petroleum and petrochemical equipment in Xinjiang. Among these, 28 companies have obtained official qualifications to produce pressure vessels, and the industry employs more than 10,000 people. This sector has become an essential part of the regional economy, contributing significantly to the development of Xinjiang’s broader energy and industrial landscape.
The industry began in the 1980s, with early focus on producing pumping units, gearboxes, high- and low-pressure vessels, heat exchangers, hydrogen-hydrocarbon displacement systems, logging tools, energy-saving transformers, cables, and off-road vehicles suitable for desert environments. Over the years, the industry has expanded its product range and improved its technical capabilities, supporting the growth of Xinjiang's petrochemical sector.
Today, Xinjiang is home to core technologies in energy-efficient and intelligent control pumping units, with the ability to manufacture nearly 2,000 new energy-saving pumping units annually. These products are sold across 13 provinces in China and have even been exported overseas. In addition, the region has developed strong expertise in oil wellhead equipment, heavy oil thermal recovery systems, spiral-welded pipes, desert off-road vehicles, special mechanical seals, and surface production facilities, all of which meet domestic advanced standards.
The production of pressure vessels has also seen significant progress, with breakthroughs in the development of LNG cryogenic containers, filling a gap in the domestic market. The design and manufacturing of electronic control systems for the oil and gas industry have also gained local characteristics, including specialized power transformers, switches, control panels, and logging equipment, which enjoy strong market competitiveness. Moreover, pipeline control systems and cleaning and online testing equipment have reached advanced levels within the domestic industry, further solidifying Xinjiang's position as a key player in the petrochemical equipment manufacturing sector.
