**Function Description:**
A ball valve is a type of quarter-turn valve that uses a hollow, perforated, and pivoting ball—known as a "floating ball"—to control the flow of fluid through it. It is open when the ball's hole aligns with the flow and closed when the ball is rotated 90 degrees by the valve handle. The handle lies flat in line with the flow when open and becomes perpendicular when closed, making it easy to visually confirm the valve’s status.
