Recently, Luo Luo Company successfully completed the acceptance test of the MT30 gas turbine in the Korean Navy's FFX frigate program. The MT30 gas turbine is the power unit of the second batch of FFX frigates. It is the world's most powerful marine gas turbine, which can exert maximum power efficiency in the smallest space on the ship.
The second batch of FFX frigates is planned to purchase eight ships, and the first ship will be built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Company (DSME). When the MT30 gas turbine completes the acceptance test, its engine will be transported to Hyundai Heavy Industries Group (HHI). The engine will be equipped with air intake, exhaust and auxiliary equipment by HHI, and the steel will be installed on the ship in the early stage. The unit cabinet is integrated. Factory acceptance testing must be completed before the gas turbine can be delivered, and the testing process is performed by Ronald Re., Bristol. Strict performance testing will take a week, and DSME, HHI, and the Korea Institute of Mechanical and Materials (KIMM) will send witnesses to test the entire process.
At present, the MT30 gas turbine has been applied to the US Navy's "free" class offshore combat ship, the DDG 1000 "Zumwalt" class destroyer, the British Navy "Queen Elizabeth" class aircraft carrier and the Type 26 frigate.
