The reporter recently learned from the Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology that a groundbreaking research project by Fujian Longyan Longjing Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. has been officially included in China's national "863" Plan. The project, titled "Semi-dry Flue Gas Desulphurization Technology and Equipment for Large-Scale Coal-Fired Power Plant Boilers," has now been launched, marking a significant step forward in environmental protection technology.
This initiative builds upon the successful application of dry flue gas desulfurization techniques in 300 MW power units. It aims to thoroughly investigate and master the key factors affecting the reliability of large-scale implementation of Circulating Fluidized Bed Flue Gas Desulfurization (CFB-FGD) technology. A major achievement of this project is the establishment of the world's first industrial demonstration unit for CFB-FGD technology that is specifically designed to match a 600 MW coal-fired power plant boiler.
Once successfully implemented, this project is expected to significantly reduce the reliance on traditional limestone/gypsum wet desulfurization methods in large thermal power plants. This shift will not only lower both capital and operational costs but also contribute to energy conservation and pollution reduction. To support the project's execution, the Ministry of Science and Technology has allocated 4.26 million yuan in scientific research funding.
Longjing Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. is a leading company in China’s air pollution control industry. Over the years, through participation in national science and technology key projects and local technological plans, the company has developed several critical technologies for flue gas dust removal and desulphurization. To date, it has obtained more than 30 patents from the State Intellectual Property Office. The inclusion of this project under the "863" Program is anticipated to further enhance the company’s innovation capabilities and position it as a key player in green technology development.
