The reporter recently learned from the Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology that a groundbreaking research project by Fujian Longyan Longjing Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. has officially been included in the national "863" Program, marking a significant milestone in China's clean energy development. The project, titled "Semi-dry Flue Gas Desulphurization Technology and Equipment for Large-Scale Coal-Fired Power Plant Boilers," has now been launched, aiming to revolutionize the way coal-fired power plants manage emissions.
Building on the successful application of dry flue gas desulphurization technology in 300 MW units, this initiative focuses on deepening the understanding of key factors that affect the reliability of large-scale implementation of CFB-FGD (Circulating Fluidized Bed Dry Flue Gas Desulphurization) technology. The project also aims to master the critical manufacturing techniques required for auxiliary equipment and systems, with the goal of establishing the world’s first industrial demonstration unit compatible with 600 MW coal-fired power plant boilers.
Once successfully implemented, the project is expected to significantly reduce the industry's reliance on traditional limestone/gypsum wet desulphurization methods. This shift could lead to lower capital and operational costs for desulphurization, contributing to more efficient energy use and reduced emissions. To support the project's execution, the Ministry of Science and Technology has allocated 4.26 million yuan in science and technology funding.
Longjing Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. is recognized as a leading player in China's air pollution control sector. Over the past few years, the company has actively participated in national and provincial science and technology projects, acquiring several key technologies related to flue gas dust removal and desulphurization. It has also secured over 30 patents from the State Intellectual Property Office. The participation in the "863" program is anticipated to further strengthen its technological innovation capabilities, positioning it even more prominently in the field of environmental protection.
