Building collapse in Chicago, 9-12-19

I just got some updates from Chi-Town Fire Photos about an incident that happened last Thursday at 3959 W. Harrison Street in Chicago. It seems like a construction team was working on replacing the sidewalk at the back of the building when, unfortunately, the rear section collapsed. Thankfully, the structure was vacant at the time, and there were no reports of any injuries. Here are a few photos I managed to grab from the scene. The first image shows the aftermath of the collapse, capturing the extent of the damage. You can see the debris scattered around, and it’s clear that the incident was quite serious. In another shot, you’ll notice a Chicago Fire Department Special Operations Battalion Chief on-site, coordinating the response efforts. There were also several fire trucks dispatched to the location, as seen in one of the pictures. Their presence indicates how quickly emergency services responded to ensure safety and prevent any further complications. Another angle highlights the collapsed area from a different perspective, giving a clearer view of the structural failure. In addition, there’s a close-up of Engine 38 from the Chicago FD, which played a crucial role in managing the situation. The final photo gives a broader look at the entire scene, emphasizing the scale of the collapse. It’s always heartening to see how efficiently emergency personnel handle such incidents. This event serves as a reminder of the importance of proper construction practices and regular inspections to avoid accidents like this. Hopefully, everything is under control now, and no one sustained harm during this unfortunate occurrence. If anyone has more details or knows someone involved, feel free to share any additional information in the comments below.
