Chicago Still & Box Alarm 12-13-11

Hank Sajovic captured a fire incident that took place yesterday in Chicago, sharing several photos along with the following detailed account: "On December 13, 2011, units from the 14th Battalion responded to a still alarm at 4018 W. Cermak Road. Engine 38 was the first to arrive and found a fire raging in a two-story brick apartment building measuring 25 by 60 feet. Truck 32, the second due engine, arrived next and headed to the rear of the structure, where they discovered heavy fire involvement at the back. The captain on scene immediately contacted the 14th Battalion and requested a Box alarm. Three hose lines were deployed to bring the fire under control. The building was reportedly unoccupied, and the fire appeared suspicious, prompting the Office of Fire Investigations to be called to the scene for further analysis. The situation was clearly serious, and the firefighters worked quickly to prevent the flames from spreading further. Here are some of the images Hank captured during the response: [Image: Firefighters pulling a line off of Engine 109. Hank Sajovic photo] [Image: Truck 48 ladders the front of the building. It's always a reminder of the dangers they face and the importance of their work."
