Their presence in the area is an important part of local emergency response. Before adopting their current red and white color scheme, all of Central Stickney’s equipment was painted white. They previously operated with FMC and Howe apparatus, which can be seen in the historical gallery featuring vintage photos of the department dating back to the 1970s. They are equipped with two ambulances, two Pierce Enforcer engines, a unique Simon-Duplex/LTI 75' rear-mount tower ladder, and a pickup used by their battalion chief. Located near Midway Airport, the district covers about five square miles, including a section of I-55 and a large industrial area.
