Karl Klotz recently paid a visit to the Troy Fire Protection District (FPD) in Shorewood, Illinois, and shared some exciting news about changes happening within the department. For years, the Troy FPD has been recognized for its distinctive lime green fire apparatus, but now they’re updating their color scheme. The new look features a sleek black roof paired with a deep maroon body color.
This shift is clearly visible in their latest acquisitions as well as vehicles that have undergone repainting. One of the first examples is Engine 2211, a 2009 Pierce Arrow XT 1500/1000 model, which now proudly displays the updated color scheme. Karl captured a fantastic photo of this rig during his visit.
In addition to the engines, the department’s ambulances are also getting a makeover. Ambulance 2214, a 2010 Ford/Medtec MICU, showcases the fresh design with its bold new striping and color palette. Karl’s photography once again highlights the transformation beautifully.
The brush trucks are not being left out either. Brush Truck 2228, built on a 2010 four-door Ford pickup chassis, exemplifies how practicality meets style in the new color scheme. Karl’s keen eye for detail ensures these updates are documented perfectly.
These changes mark an exciting evolution for the Troy FPD, blending tradition with modern aesthetics. It’s clear that the department is committed to maintaining its reputation while embracing a more contemporary appearance.
