76th annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon

Join hundreds of fire service professionals and community members at the 76th annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon, hosted by the Illinois Fire Sprinkler Coalition. The event will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Bobak’s Signature Events in Woodridge, IL. This is a great opportunity to connect with peers, learn about the latest in fire safety, and celebrate outstanding contributions to fire prevention.

The luncheon features a keynote presentation, a gourmet lunch, and valuable networking time. It also serves as a platform to recognize individuals and organizations that have made a meaningful impact in fire safety and burn prevention. Each year, the IFSA invites nominations for various awards, highlighting those who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to protect lives and property.

Since the 1960s, there have been major advancements in understanding how fires behave and interact with people and structures. At the same time, building materials, construction methods, and residential fire protection systems have evolved significantly. These changes raise important questions: What do they mean for residents? How do they affect firefighters? Underwriters’ Laboratories has been leading research in this area, and the luncheon will provide insights into how these developments influence fire safety for everyone involved.

This year’s speaker is Daniel Madrzykowski, a research engineer at the UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute. With a Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland and over 30 years of experience in fire safety research, Daniel brings deep expertise to the topic. His presentation will offer practical knowledge for both homeowners and first responders to better prepare for and respond to fire emergencies.
