Their dedication and quick response have made them a valuable part of the regional fire protection network. Before switching to their current red-and-white livery, the department’s apparatus was all white. In the past, they operated with FMC and Howe equipment, which can be seen in the historic gallery that showcases Central Stickney’s vehicles dating back to the 1970s. This small but dedicated department serves a five-square-mile area near Midway Airport, including part of I-55 and a large industrial zone. The district operates out of one station staffed by part-time firefighters. They have two ambulances, two Pierce Enforcer engines, a rare Simon-Duplex/LTI 75' rear-mount tower ladder, and a pickup used by their battalion chief. Their location makes them an important resource for emergency response in the region.
