Hank Sajovic captured a fire incident that took place yesterday in Chicago, sharing a series of photos along with a detailed account of the event:
On December 13, 2011, the 14th Battalion responded to a still alarm at 4018 W. Cermak Road. Engine 38 was the first on scene and found a fire burning in a two-story brick apartment building measuring 25 by 60 feet. Truck 32, the second due engine, arrived and proceeded to the rear of the structure, where they discovered heavy fire involvement at the back. The captain immediately contacted the 14th Battalion and requested a Box alarm due to the severity of the situation. Firefighters deployed three lines to bring the blaze under control. According to reports, the building was unoccupied, and the cause of the fire was considered suspicious. The Office of Fire Investigations was called to the scene for further examination.
The photos taken by Hank Sajovic show firefighters in action. One image captures Engine 109's crew pulling a hose line, while another shows Truck 48 extending its ladder to the front of the building. A third photo highlights intense flames from the rear, and a fourth features Squad 2 using a spare apparatus during the operation. These images provide a vivid look into the challenging conditions faced by the responding units.
