On Saturday morning (May 18th, 2019), the Wilmette Fire Department held an open house event that provided residents with a fascinating look into their operations. The event showcased several antique firefighting vehicles alongside the introduction of a brand-new Engine 27. After a ceremonial presentation, the new engine was officially pushed into its designated spot inside the station.
Engine 27 is a 2019 Pierce Dash CF PUC model, equipped with state-of-the-art features including a 1500-gallon-per-minute (GPM) pump, 750 gallons of onboard water storage, and a foam cell capable of holding either 20 or 30 gallons. Additionally, it comes fitted with a 35-foot ground ladder and can serve as Engine 26 in case the tower ladder is unavailable. This impressive vehicle will be stationed at Firehouse 27, while the previous 2013 E-ONE engine will transition to reserve status.
