Wheeling police and firefighters responded to a severe head-on collision on McHenry Road near Manda Lane on Tuesday afternoon, February 5, 2019. Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered two vehicles with extensive damage and found multiple individuals trapped inside, some in critical condition. The incident resulted in four injured people, who were quickly transported to local hospitals by four ambulances.
The crash site was chaotic, with both cars severely damaged and partially crumpled. Emergency personnel worked swiftly to free the victims and provide immediate medical assistance. Local residents and passersby gathered at the scene, expressing concern over the severity of the accident.
Photos from the scene show the wreckage of the vehicles, highlighting the force of the impact. The images, taken by Larry Shapiro, capture the aftermath of the crash and the efforts of first responders. While no fatalities have been reported yet, the injuries sustained by those involved are being closely monitored by hospital staff.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision, and traffic remained disrupted for several hours following the incident. Residents are advised to remain cautious in the area as the investigation continues.
