Triple container ship wins 9600 cases record

A 9600TEU container ship, ordered by China Shipping Group (CSG) from Samsung Heavy Industries, was recently launched at the Geoje Shipyard and officially named "New Los Angeles." This massive vessel measures 321 meters in length and 46 meters in width, making it one of the largest container ships in the world. It has the capacity to carry up to 1.3 million television sets at once, showcasing its impressive cargo volume. The ship was first ordered by Samsung Group back in 2003 and marks a significant milestone for Samsung Heavy Industries, as it delivered the first 9,200 TEU container ship to a global shipping company in July of last year. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the "New Los Angeles" features an advanced engine system that minimizes noise and vibration, enhancing both comfort and efficiency. It can reach speeds of up to 26 knots and is designed to operate safely even in challenging sea conditions, such as waves up to 15 meters high. According to Jin Wei, General Manager of Samsung Heavy Industries, this successful delivery positions the company well for future projects, including the development of 12,000 TEU container ships. To date, Samsung Heavy Industries has constructed 181 large container ships. Globally, there are 73 contracts for vessels of 9,000 TEU or larger, and Samsung Heavy Industries has secured 33 of those, capturing 45% of the market share. The company is now actively working on designing even larger ships, including 14,000 TEU container vessels, to meet the growing demand in the shipping industry. With its strong track record and innovative approach, Samsung Heavy Industries continues to play a key role in shaping the future of maritime transport.
